TEAM DEVELOPMENT
- Team development normally go through the four phases as they develop. Psychologist B.A Tuckman identified the four phases :
- Forming
- Storming
- Norming
- Performing
FORMING
In simple
words forming is all about finding about team members and task.
Forming is the
first stage to know about all the team members. Judging a person on first
meeting on job is not easy way as everyone will behave politely, we have only
expectations but no result . (human resources, n.d.)
FEATURES OF FORMING AND HUMAN BEHAVIOR
- Orientation plays crucial role.
- Members have general questions in their mind.
- o Who are we?
- o What we are going to do?
- o What is our goal?
- First meeting is with positive vibes, no issues.
- Suspense about the job.
- People trying to talk with each other feel awkward.
- Develop trust in each other.
- They can judge similarities and differences between each other.
- They make better understanding, it will help in less disputes and issues in future.
- Group consists of many type of members as some makes other feel comfortable, few of them trying to focus on themselves while many are confused and shy for expressing their view points.
- Members are trying to checking other personalities and talents.
- Members have many expectations from each other in future.
ROLE OF LEADER
- Group member look for directions from their team leader.
- Build trust of their members as they can blindly follow him.
- Setting rules for group behavior.
- Define the task.
- Discussions about the task.
- People start expressing their views.
- Parts are divided among the team member.
- Discussions about collecting information.
- Main focus on goals.
